History of Rough Magic
In 2019, Rough Magic was founded with one mission: to help those who wanted to play tabletop role-playing games but lacked the time to take on the role of a Game Master. Co-founders, Richard Costes and Christian Stokes, brought their considerable experience in the entertainment industry together, creating a company that would offer a wide-variety of in-person game options: learn-to-play sessions, long-term campaigns, one-shots for parties, and more.
In 2020, as the world seemingly changed overnight, the ability to meet in-person was no longer an option. Recognizing that people still craved social interaction, Christian and Richard shifted Rough Magic virtually; offering the same diverse array of game options online. Enabling people to connect virtually expanded Rough Magic’s player-base, expanding their reach across all of the United States. As people begin to feel comfortable meeting in person, Rough Magic will still continue to offer virtual games – allowing people from coast-to-coast to experience the talented work of their professional team of Game Masters.
Today Rough Magic’s team is thrilled to help players of all experience levels and from all over the country collaboratively create thrilling adventures and forge unique bonds of friendship that will last for a lifetime.
Our Commitment to Inclusivity and Accessibility
Rough Magic was founded on the belief that our hobby is for everyone; everyone deserves a chance to feel welcome and accepted at the table no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, or class.
To ensure that we have created a safe environment for everyone, all participants are expected to respect their fellow players and work together to create positive and memorable experiences. While conflict between characters may arise, at no time should a anyone feel excluded or threatened at the table. We at Rough Magic reserve the right to refuse services to any person for conduct that we deem discriminatory, inappropriate, or illegal.
Rough Magic is committed to the health and safety of all of our players and GMs. While we will continue to host virtual events we are taking the following steps to ensure the safety of everyone at any in-person events until further notice.
We ask that all players have proof of vaccination for any in-person events. Currently all of Rough Magic’s GMs are fully vaccinated.
The only exception to this are players under the age of 12 or those who need accomodations due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. Players over the age of 12 or players requesting exemption must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the start of the game or a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test taken within 6 hours of the start of the game.
Players may provide proof of vaccination or a negative test on paper or on their phone.
While we do require proof of vaccination we also require masks to be worn at all times during our in-person events except while consuming food or beverages. All face coverings must cover the nose and mouth and comply with the CDC guidelines for acceptable face coverings.
Players who do not comply with these policies will be asked to leave and will not have their tickets refunded.
Thank you for being part of our adventuring party and following these new policies!
